Dead-Burnt magnesite is calcined at high temperature by magnesite, brucite or magnesium hydroxide
prepared by reacting seawater and milk of lime, and has strong hydration ability. It is mainly used for
making alkaline refractory materials, such as magnesia bricks and magnesia-alumina bricks, and those
containing many impurities are used for paving the bottom of steelmaking steel furnaces. Fused magnesite
is made by melting selected super-grade natural magnesite or high-purity light burnt magnesite particles in
an electric arc furnace. The product has high purity, large crystal grains and compact structure, strong slag
resistance and good thermal stability. It is an excellent high-temperature electrical insulation material and
an ideal raw material for making high-grade magnesite bricks, magnesite-carbon bricks and unshaped
refractory materials.
